שבת-קכו

One שבת, when ר׳ לוי יצחק מבערדוטשעו saw a Jew smoking, he asked him: “Don’t you know that today is שבת?”  “Yes, I know,” he answered.   “And do you know that smoking on שבת is forbidden?” ר׳ לוי יצחק asked. “Yes, I know,” the Jew answered.   “רבונו של עולם,” the צדיק said.  “Just look at what a dear people You have!  Even when a Jew does an עבירה, he doesn’t tell a lie.”
