In פרשת מקץ, the תורה says of the brothers of יוסף that וישתו וישכרו עמו.  The רש״י on this says: מיום שמכרוהו לא שתו יין ולא הוא שתה יין ואותו היום שתו.”  At a gathering of גדולים at a שבת meal, ר׳ יחזקאל מקוזמיר asked: “It is understandable that יוסף drank, since he knew that he was finally reunited with his brothers.  But since they didn’t know that he was their brother, why did they drink now after not having drunk in all the years since they sold him?”   רבי נתן דוד משידלאווצא answered: כל שנותן משקה הוא אח.   The brothers said to themselves, anyone who offers fine wine is a brother.
