When ר׳ אברהם of Slonim, who had been a מלמד, made himself the רבי of חסידים, he no longer visited ר׳ אייזל חריף, the ראש ישיבה. When ר׳ אייזל saw him, he said: “מילא, your חסידים believe that you’re קדוש, but it seems that you also believe so and that’s why you no longer stop by to see me.” ר׳ אברהם replied that he does, indeed, believe it. “If you take wheat that’s חול and declare הרי זה תרומה, it becomes קדוש.” “Yes,” ר׳ אייזל answered, “But its your חסידים who said that you are קדוש and we have learned חרש, שוטה וקטן שתרמו אין תרומתן תרומה.”
