ערובין-ד

One ערב שבת, the מקוה in a town became פסול. The רב asked the שמש to go from house to house and notify all of the husbands whose wives had gone for טבילה.  After the סעודת ליל שבת, the שמש went on his mission.  When he arrived at a house on the edge of town, the שבת candles were already out and inside all were asleep.  The שמש banged on the window, waking the husband and then informing him of what the רב said.  The husband responded: “You’re late. I’m already after בורא נפשות.”
