A רב was asked concerning a wealthy Jew who was a miser, “On פסח, how can he say כל דכפין ייתי וייכול?” The רב answered: “That is what his son asks, מה נשתנה הלילה הזה מכל הלילות? The father responds עבדים היינו לפרעה במצרים, and just as פרעה was גוזר and not מקיים, so too we sayכל דכפין ייתי וייכול but we are not מקיים.”
