When a רב who had been short in stature but had reached great heights in תורה died, the קהילה replaced him with a רב who was just the opposite: tall in stature but short in his learning and יראת שמים.  On the first שבת in the בית מדרש, the new רב sat down in his seat and complained to the שמש that the שתנדר was too low for him.  “רבי,” the שמש replied, “perhaps the seat is too high for you.”
