David Solomon was an important advisor to the King and Queen of Spain.  Years prior to the Expulsion, he and his family were ordered to convert.  Unfortunately, he felt that he had no choice and obeyed.  In the months that followed, his remorse, anguish and depression became unbearable.  With great trepidation, he informed the King that he could not live with what he had done and that the King could do with him as he saw fit, but he was returning to Judaism.  Surprisingly, the King took it well.  A tremendous load had been lifted from David’s shoulders.  When he got home, he excitedly told his wife “We can be Jews again!  We’re Jews again!”  Glaring at him, she said “Couldn’t you have waited until after Pesach?”
