A חסיד complained to his רבי that he works in the forest and at times, when he’s walking in the darkness, he’s overcome by a great fear.  “What should I do?” he asked.  The רבי advised: “When you feel the fear, say ‏גם כי אלך בגיא צלמות לא אירא רע.”  Several days later, he returned to the רבי and said:  “I did as you instructed. I said the פסוק, but only half of it was מקיים.”  “What can I do?” said the רבי. “After all, חז״ל said תפילה עושה מחצה.”
