A Jew was driving a רב nuts with one foolish question after another. The רב opened a גמרא and began reviewing it. That did the trick. Within moments, the Jew left. The רב explained to a student who was with him: “This proves the teaching of חז״ל: that הנפטר מחברו אל יפטר אלא מתוך דבר הלכה.”
