A reform rabbi had no trouble fasting on יום כיפור. But he was dying to play a round of golf. After the morning services, figuring who would know, the rabbi went to the golf course and was ready to tee off. Seeing this, one of the angels approached G-d and said:”This rabbi has some nerve. He couldn’t restrain himself even on יום כיפור.” “I’ll fix him. Just watch,” G-d replied. The rabbi hit the ball. It struck a tree, careened off a rock, rolled through a sand trap onto the green and went straight into the hole. Amazed, the angel said to G-d: “He got a hole-in-one. That’s how You punish him?” “Yes,” G-d answered, “Whom is he going to tell?”
