A תלמיד חכם went a long distance by foot to visit his רבי. When he arrived, tired and sweaty, the רבי thanked him for coming but asked why he walked so far, instead of getting a ride. The תלמיד חכם replied: “Didn’t חז״ל say חייב אדם להקביל פני רבו ברגל?”
