The ׳נפש חיה׳ spoke of the איסור of carrying outside of the עירוב on שבת. “Those who transgress this,” he said, “will in the future also have to give דין וחשבון for not being מקיים תקיעת שופר בראש השנה שחל בשבת, as well as for failing to do נטילת לולב שחל בשבת.” Seeing the surprised look of the קהל, he explained: “The חכמים banned the מצוות of שופר and לולב on שבת as a גזירה so that people not carryד׳ אמות ברשות הרבים on שבת, but those who don’t abide by the איסור of carrying on שבת have no reason for failing to perform the מצוות of שופר and לולב on שבת. Therefore, when the time comes to giveדין וחשבון, they will have to do so for these as well.
