On שמחת תורה in סאטמאר, a wealthy man who was a boor and עם הארץ bought חתן תורה. When he was called up for the עליה, the רבי rose to see who got the honor. Seeing the man who bought the עליה, the רבי said with a smile: “He is a worthy חתן. He doesn’t see the כלה the entire year.”
