The חסידים of an אדמור who was planning his son’s wedding were told by his שמש that anyone who wanted to attend the wedding had to bring a bottle of wine and pour it into a cistern that had been prepared especially for that purpose. One of the חסידים thought to himself, הרי התורה חסה על ממונם של ישראל and since thousands of חסידים will be coming to the wedding and will be bringing thousands of bottles of wine, if I bring a bottle of water it will be מבטל in all that wine and no one will taste the difference. Unfortunately, the other חסידים had the same מחשבה and as the wedding day approached, the cistern was full of water. When the אדמור became aware of what occurred, he had the waiters fill all the guests’ cups with the water from the cistern and said: “אשרינו שנתקיים בנו ושאבתם מים בששון ממעיני הישועה.”
