ביצה-ט

When learning the סוגיה of ביצה שלא נולדה ביום טוב, and the מחלוקת concerning something that had not yet come into existence, ר׳ חיים of סאנז asked one of his חסידים what he would do if he found a wallet with money. “I would return it to the owner,” he answered. “You’re a שוטה,” the רבי said. He then asked another חסיד the same question. “What am I, a fool?” he answered. “I would keep it.” The רבי angrily pronounced him to be a רשע. A third חסיד was asked the question and he responded: “When I find it, we’ll talk.” ר׳ חיים said: “You’re a חכם. Why speculate about money that you don’t have?”
