The father of a כלה wanted to test how learned the חתן actually was.  “What do the ראשי תיבות ב״ש and ב״ה stand for?” he asked, expecting the חתן to answer בית הלל and בית שמאי.  Instead, the boy answered: “ברוך הוא ברוך שמו.”  Surprised at the response, the father asked: “If so, why doesn’t the גמרא reverse the order and say ב״ה and then ב״ש?  The עם הארץ responded: “That’s exactly what the גמרא asks – “מאי טעמה דב״ש ומאי טעמה דב״ה.”
