On a cold, snowy day, a wealthy man was praying שחרית at home when an עני appeared at his door. Angry that the poor man had gotten his marble floor dirty from his snow covered boots, the גביר directed him to leave. “I’m sorry about your floor,” the עני said, “but since you are praying שחרית, note that although תפילת ברוך שאמר says ברוך מרחם על הארץ, it continues with ברוך מרחם על הבריות.”
