The first Mishnah in מגילה states that the מגילה can be read on the 11th, 12th, 13th, or 14th but never states the month. Why? The answer is that the חכמים knew that גמרא is studied in Yiddish. Thus, in translation it says you can read the מגילה on the 11th, adar the 12th, adar the 13th, adar the 14th.
