An עני came to the home of a wealthy man for a נדבה. As he arrived, the man and his family were having dinner. The עני was invited to join them for the סעודה and was glad to accept the invitation. When the food was brought out to the table, the עני saw delicacies that he had never seen before. He instinctively scratched his head. The בעל הבית, in a play on the words of רבי נחמיה in today’s דף, responded: אם כן, אתה מטיל כינה בסעודה.
