The גמרא states in today’s דף, that when המן was leading מרדכי on the horse through the streets of the city, השליכה בתו כלי חרס על ראש אביה. While still a young man, רבי יהונתן אייבשיץ delivered a פורים דרשה in which he explained why she threw the כלי. He noted that in מסכת חולין, the חכמים asked המן מן התורה מנין. The answer given is that בראשית ג, יא says המן העץ. And in מדרש רבה, it is established by רבי מאיר that אותו עץ שאכל אדם הראשון חטה היה. And we know that this מעשה המן occurred on פסח. Therefore, המן was חמץ בפסח and the הלכה is that חמץ שנמצא בפסח כופין עליו הכלי.
