A מלמד who had been publicly slapped by the father of one of his students took him to a דין תורה before ר׳ אביש אריה שפירא, who ruled that the aggressor must pay the מלמד ten gold coins. When the man protested that this was a huge sum, the רב replied: “מפורש בתורה, כף אחת עשרה זהב.”
