A מגיד requested permission from רבי אייזל חריף to address the קהל between מנחה and מעריב.  The רבי agreed, but told him to make it short.  The מגיד, however, went on and on and everyone, including the רבי, was impatient for him to finish.  When he finally got off the בימה, the רבי said to him: “As you know, the מצרים were stricken with ten מכות and according to חז״ל, with two hundred fifty מכות.  Why amongst all these מכות wasn’t there also מכת המגידים?  Apparently, it’s because if הקדוש ברוך הוא had punished the מצרים with מכת מגיד, the מגיד would still be delivering his דרשה until today and בני ישראל would never have left מצרים.”
