A congregant approached an עם-הארץ Reform rabbi after he gave his שבת sermon and said he was surprised that the sermon was a word for word repetition of a speech that he read in a book. “You shouldn’t be surprised,” the rabbi told him. “After all, even דוד המלך in תהילים copied psalms word for word right out of the סידור.”
