The village idiot was standing in the market prattling off all kinds of nonsense to an amused crowd.  When his wife came by to take him home, he wouldn’t stop speaking until she spit in his face.  The next day, when he returned to the market, people asked why he stood still as a גולם when his wife spit at him.  “What was I supposed to do?” he asked.  “You should have said ברכת טל ומטר,” a man answered.  The שוטה clapped his hands and began dancing.  When asked what he was so happy about, he said: “Now it’s clear to me why ברכת טל ומטר was placed in ברכת הנשים.”
