When רבי אלעזר בן עזריה was appointed נשיא, he said איזל ואימליך בדביתהו; I want to consult my wife.  It seems odd that before accepting such a great and prestigious position he felt that he must first consult his wife.  Why did he do so?  In today’s דף, we are told that the time for a תלמיד חחם to be with his wife is once a week, on ערב שבת.  But the time for a נשיא to be with his wife is only once a month.  Therefore, since his appointment affected her, רבי אלעזר בן עזריה had to consult his wife.
