R’ איצ׳לי מוולוז׳ין was מקפיד not to speak ill of others. Nevertheless, when he was once asked by someone whether to enter into a transaction with a businessman, he felt obligated to indicate that the man’s representations aren’t reliable. He said: “That man has an absolutely astonishing memory. There are people who remember things that occurred ten years or even twenty years ago. But this man has such an excellent memory that he remembers things that never happened.”
