Today’s דף presents the famous expression קשה זווגו של אדם כקריעת ים סוף. There are many explanations of this expression, but the question remains: what kind of comparison is this? Nothing is difficult before the רבונו של עולם. The מדרש teaches that when הים ראה וינס, what the ים saw was בני ישראל coming with the wealth of מצרים in their hands and it was only then, when it saw the wealth, that the ים agreed to split before בני ישראל. Similarly, a שידוך is difficult when one of the parties is looking for money and turns down every match until he sees the רכוש.
