The מגיד of Dubna, רבי יעקב קראנץ, who was a well known מתנגד and colleague of the גר״א, was invited to an event hosted by the מגיד of Mezritch, רב דב בר, who was a leader of the חסידים. After delivering דברי תורה and singing זמירות, with the חסידים dancing in front of him, רב דב בר invited the מגיד of Dubna to speak. The מגיד respectfully declined, saying “I’m concerned your חסידים will attack me.” רב דב בר assured him that no one will lay a finger on him. רבי יעקב rose to speak and said: “Thank you for permitting me to speak. What I see here is an עולם הפוך. When the gypsies gather, the gypsies sing and the דוב dances. But here, when the חסידים gather, the דוב sings and the gypsies dance before him.”
