Shlomo and Miriam, an elderly widower and widow, had been dating for three years when Shlomo finally decided to ask Miriam to marry him. She immediately said “Yes.” The next morning, when he awoke, Shlomo couldn’t remember what her answer was. “Was she happy? Did she say yes?” After an anxious hour trying to remember, he picked up the phone and called Miriam. Embarrassed, he admitted that he didn’t recall her answer to his proposal. “Oh,” said Miriam, “I’m so glad you called. I remembered saying “yes” to someone, but I couldn’t remember who it was.”
