Levi Eshkol once raised taxes, saying that although it was not pleasant doing so, the country needs the money. He added that it’s like המן הרשע said: “ועשרת אלפים ככר כסף אשקול.” A friend objected that he shouldn’t compare his actions to those of המן, noting that in מגילת אסתר the word אשקול is written with a “ק” while the Prime Minister’s name, אשכול, is written with a “כ.” “What’s the difference?” replied Eshkol. “בת ק כבת כ and we need all the ככר כסף we can get.”
