An אפיקורס boasted to frum Jews that he had been עובר every עבירה in the תורה except for one, which he does not intend to do: the עבירה of committing suicide. They told him: “You couldn’t do that עבירה even if you wanted to, because if you commit suicide it would be a מצוה.” “Which מצוה?” he asked. They responded: “ובערת הרע מקרבך.”
