The President of a בית כנסת insisted on replacing their long time רב, who was a תלמיד חכם, with a more modern Rabbi. When the new Rabbi spoke on שבת, the President stood besides him. Afterwards, one of the members of the קהל said: “The President did well. He was מקיים the words of our חכמים in מסכת בבא קמא, namely יבא בעל השור ויעמוד על שורו.”
