A disrespectful young man was teasing an elderly man about his age. The older man responded by telling him that it’s clear from the words of the חכמים that זקן עדיף מצעיר. When asked how, he responded: “That I was once young is בחזקת ודאי. But that you will be old is בחזקת ספק and it’s a כלל ידוע בגמרא that ברי ושמא, ברי עדיף.”
