Two Jewish juvenile delinquents who were known to steal whatever wasn’t nailed down, were brought before the רב of a village. The רב sat the younger one down and asked him “Where is הקדוש ברוך הוא? Where do you think He is?” The boy sat silently and didn’t offer a response. The רב repeated: “Where is הקדוש ברוך הוא?” Again, the boy said nothing. When the רב demanded an answer, the boy ran out of the room in panic. When his brother saw the look on his face and asked what happened, the boy answered: “Don’t ask. הקדוש ברוך הוא is missing and they think we’re to blame.”
