An עשיר who in his own eyes was a ירא שמים, didn’t mix business and religion. When it came to business, he was ruthless and litigious, suing his fellow Jews without hesitation. When he died, the רב suggested that they write on his tombstone: צדקת השם עשה ומשפטיו עם ישראל.
