Two גבאים came to the house of a Jew to collect the community tax. When he refused to pay, one took the pillow from under his head and the other took the menorah which was sitting on a shelf. The Jew went to the home of the community leader and complained that there is a מחלוקת in the גמרא whether night was created for sleep or for learning, thus they should have taken either the pillow or the menorah, not both. The community leader responded: “These two גבאים didn’t know how the מחלוקת was resolved by the גמרא and thus each one followed his own shitah.”
