Why did המן הרשע prepare an עץ that was דוקא חמישים אמה? Wouldn’t twenty or thirty אמה have been sufficient? The answer is that, as we know, the עץ was actually prepared for המן himself and as חז״ל have said: “מרחיקין את הנבלות מן העיר חמישים אמה.”
