When Chaim Weitzman was elected as the first President of Israel, a large group of dignitaries was waiting to congratulate him. One asked: “When he walks in, are we supposed to say ברוך שחלק מכבודו לבשר ודם?” The Religious Affairs Minister said, “When he arrives we’ll ask him.” When Weitzman was asked the question, he said: “No. That ברכה is for the גויים. Jews would never be satisfied with חלק.”
