Why do חזנים have a reputation of being שוטים. Why? Because they go before the תיבה, where it is written: שויתי ה׳ לנגדי תמיד. And the פסוק in משלי כא, ל tells us מפורש that אין חכמה ואין תבונה לנגד ה׳.
