A רב once encountered a group of אפיקורסים mocking the belief of ביאת המשיח.  He turned to them and said let me tell you a story. There was once a fox who called to the bird sitting on top of the tree, “come down to me.”  The bird refused and said “you are surely hungry, you wily fox.” The fox replied: “Haven’t you heard, the משיח has come and the wolf and the sheep will lie together.”  Just then, a pack of barking dogs approached and the startled fox began to flee. “Why are you running?” the bird asked, “didn’t you say משיח had come?”  “Yes,” the fox answered, “but the dogs don’t believe in ביאת המשיח.”
