One of the משכילים, seeking to harass the מלבי״ם, sent him משלוח מנות on פורים a basket covered by a doily, under which was a baked item in the form of a pig. The מלבי״ם reciprocated and sent him a basket covered by a white doily, under which was a picture of the מלבי״ם, accompanied by a note saying: “Since you sent me your image, I’m sending you mine.”
