A collector came to the חוזה הקדוש of Lublin and asked him for a נדבה.  The חוזה gave him the same amount that he usually gave to other עניים. The collector complained that he should receive more because we’re קרובים and proceeded to go through a family tree which showed that they are fourth cousins.  The חוזה smiled and said “קרוב…רחוק” and the עני left.  The same day, the חוזה was the שליח ציבור at מנחה.  During the חזרת הש״ץ, when he said the words אלוקי אברהם, אלוקי וצחק ואלוקי יעקב, the collector said “קרובים רחוקים.”  After the תפילה, the חוזה gave him an additional contribution.
