There are times when, as we see with Bilam, a קללה can be turned around and explained as a ברכה.   In פרשת כי תבוא, the תורה states והפיצך ה׳ בכל העמים מקצה הארץ ועד קצה.  Once, ר׳ יעקב אריה מראדזמין traveled to a city where he was greeted by a huge crowd.  There was pushing and shoving to get close to the רבי.  When one man got particularly aggressive, the tired רבי told him לך לכל הרוחות.   Insulted, the man began to cry.  Feeling bad at hurting the man’s feelings, the רבי said: “Don’t be upset.  After all, this is the ברכה which יעקב אבינו was given: ופרצת ימה וקדמה צפונה ונגבה.”  The same is true with והפיצך ה׳ בכל העמים מקצה הארץ ועד קצה.
