The שמש of the חתם סופר would boast that he was his שמש and that he was the nephew of a very wealthy man.  When the חתם סופר heard this, he told him “I could understand your boasting if you were a למדן like me or if you were wealthy like your uncle.  But since you actually are a למדן like your uncle and wealthy like me, what do you have to boast about?”
