At a wedding in Minsk, רבי ירוחם-ליב was shocked to see after the קידושין the חתן kissing the כלה in front of all the guests. The רבי protested this scandalous behavior. “But רבי,” said the חתן, “we’re married כדת משה וישראל and we’re husband and wife.” רבי ירוחם-ליב answered: “The תורה ends with the words לעיני כל ישראל. This teaches that if its לעיני כל ישראל, its סוף כל התורה.”
