When רבי יונתן אייבשיץ was asked why is it that a person who goes to ask a שאלה of איסור והיתר and the רב is פוסק לאיסור, the person accepts his ruling and isn’t מצטער even if it causes him a great loss. But if he goes to the רב to rule on a dispute with another person and the רב rules against him and requires him to pay even a small amount, he has great צער? The רבי explained: “It’s not surprising. He’s not upset at what it’s costing him. He’s מצטער on what the other person is זוכה.”
