A בחור had rejected many offers of a שידוך. This one is too short; that one is not pretty; and the other one lacks money. No one was good enough for him. Finally, a שדכן proposed to him a girl who had everything: looks, money, יחוס, and all the other qualities. The בחור was excited. “This is what I’ve been waiting for,” he said. “I hope she agrees to the שידוך.” The שדכן said: “I’m glad to hear it, but the time is not ripe yet.” “What do you mean?” the boy asked. “I need to reveal a secret to you,” the שדכן replied. “The girl does have one minor פגום. Once a year, she loses her mind for an hour.” The boy said: “OK. Once a year isn’t bad.” The שדכן replied: “I agree. I’m waiting for that moment when she loses her mind.”
