An עם הארץ approached a רב and said “I’m glad I didn’t have to trouble you. I had a difficult halachic שאלה, but was able to resolve it myself. “Really?” said the רב. “What was the שאלה?” “The kugel that my wife prepared for שבת was prepared in a dairy tin and she then placed it into the chulent,” the עם הארץ said. I was פוסק that it’s kosher.” Surprised, the רב asked how he reached that conclusion. “I checked all the הלכות שבת in חיי אדם,” the man responded “and I didn’t find anything there that says it’s not kosher.” After a moment, the רב said: “You may have checked חיי אדם, but I see that you don’t have חכמת אדם or בינת אדם.”
